It is designed to grow and shrink automatically as you add and remove files, removing the need to provide and manage capacity to meet expansion. It can scale on demand to petabytes without interfering with applications.<\/p>\n<p>An Amazon Elastic File System file system can be <strong>accessed by several compute instances simultaneously<\/strong>, including <strong>Amazon EC2<\/strong>, <strong>Amazon ECS<\/strong>, and<strong> AWS Lambda<\/strong>, providing a shared data source for workloads and applications running on multiple compute instances or servers.<\/p>\n<p>In this blog, we will create an EFS filesystem and mount it to an EC2 instance.<\/p>\n<h3>Step1: Create an EFS filesystem<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>First, we will create a security group for EFS. Go to <strong>EC2 dashboard-&gt;Security Groups<\/strong>. Select <strong>Create security group<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Give a name and select VPC. Select the EFS security group that we created earlier. For installing EFS Client in the Red Hat Linux server follow these steps.<\/li>\n<li>Install git using the following command:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<pre><code>sudo yum -y install git<\/code><\/pre>\n<ul>\n<li>Install the rpm-build package using the following command:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<pre><code>sudo yum -y <span class=\"hljs-keyword\">install<\/span> rpm-build<\/code><\/pre>\n<ul>\n<li>Clone amazon-efs-utils from GitHub using the following command:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<pre><code>git clone https:\/\/github.com\/aws\/efs-utils<\/code><\/pre>\n<ul>\n<li>Now go to the directory that contains the amazon-efs-utils package:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<pre><code>cd \/path\/efs-utils<\/code><\/pre>\n<ul>\n<li>Install the bash <strong>make<\/strong> command if your OS doesn&#8217;t already have it as follows:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<pre><code>sudo yum -y install make<\/code><\/pre>\n<ul>\n<li>Build the amazon-efs-utils package using the following command:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<pre><code>sudo make rpm<\/code><\/pre>\n<ul>\n<li>Install the amazon-efs-utils package with the following command.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<pre><code>sudo yum -y install .\/build\/amazon-efs-utils*rpm<\/code><\/pre>\n<ul>\n<li>Now create a directory where you want to mount EFS. We will mount the EFS in \/mnt\/efs\/chkmtfs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<pre><code>cd \/mnt<\/code> <code>sudo mkdir efs<\/code> <code>cd efs<\/code> <code>sudo mkdir chkmtfs<\/code><\/pre>\n<ul>\n<li>Now go to the Elastic File System console. instance<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Select the OS and instance type.<\/li>\n<li>Before adding EFS first we need to add select the subnet for EC2 instance.<\/li>\n<li>After selecting the subnet go to storage and select EFS.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2516\"
